Welcome to Mrs. Boriack's 4th grade Wikispace

Check back frequently for newletters and school information.Parents- Please be sure to check your child's agenda as often as possible for notification about upcoming tests and other reminders. Students should be recording homework, word study words, test dates and other important info in their agendas every afternoon. NC County Project: The written report and scrapbook requirements are due on Friday, May 27th. The tri-fold poster is due on Wednesday, June 1. We will host our County Fair in the cafeteria on Friday, June 3 in the afternoon. CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION: In the event that you must change your child's after school mode of transportation, please remind your child in the morning and send a note to me. I understand that sometimes it is last minute, but whenever possible, please plan ahead in order to reduce the need to call the office during the busy dismissal period. It is often very difficult for office staff to reach us in time to make the needed change. Thanks for understanding. A Note About Lunch With Your Child
It's a nice treat to have parents join students for lunch at school. Students may choose one friend to join them at the "guest" table. If you plan to bring lunch, please bring lunch for your child only. Thank you for supporting these school policies. Our lunch time is from 12:35pm-1:00pm. We hope to see you!

Spring Fling Volunteers are needed April 30 from 11am-2pm. Mrs. Melton's and Mrs. Boriack's classes will be sharing the ping-pong toss game. We need parent volunteers to help run the game for 20-30 minutes each. Please let me know if you are available.

2011-2012 Meet the Teacher: 7/8 from 12pm-1pm

PE Reminder

Students must wear tennis shoes and sneakers with shoelaces or Velcro in order to participate in PE. Tennis shoes and sneakers without laces or Velcro do not provide enough support during some activities. For your child’s safety, students who do not wear the proper shoes will sit out during PE class resulting in points being taken off for participation and possibly effecting the overall Physical Education grade.

EOG Testing- Coming in May! May 11, 12, 13
EOG prep materials and Study Island are both highly recommended as track out work for all students. Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference in your child’s confidence level on test day! From the Principal's Desk:

Instructional Time Policy: We prioritize and value instructional time and need every minute to provide students quality instruction. For that reason, we ask that you ensure your child arrives at school on time and that you not check a student out early unless it is an emergency or for a scheduled appointment. Our office staff will not check students out between 3:20-3:45, as teachers will be completing important end of the day closing activities. We ask that you respect this policy, as it is to ensure we are maximizing instructional time for the benefit of your child.

No Checkout or Pick up from Carpool Lobby – For the safety of our students’ and due to the large number of students gathered in the lobby for carpool there will be no check-out and pick-up of carpool students from our lobby. It can become chaotic while calling carpool numbers so to ensure the safety of our students being picked up by the correct parent/guardians, we must enforce this policy. Parents must go through our carpool line for pick-up. If you do not have a carpool number, we will call the students name.

Dress Code- Please remember to follow WCPSS dress code policy. It can be found in the parent/student handbook online, but if you do not have internet access please let us know and we will send a hard copy home.
*We recommend that students do not wear flip-flops for safety reasons.*
